1/700 USS Texas BB-35 (Samek)
Photos of my model of USS Texas. It is by Samek, in resin at 1/700 scale. Extra photoetch is by Gold Medal and the paints are White Ensign Colourcoats. Rigging is my usual method of using nylon cord teased out to individual fibres.
It represents the ship in November to December 1944, when she travelled from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
If was doing it again I'd open up the windows in the control tops and replace them with 1/350 photoetch ladder stock.
The model won a gold medal at Scale Modelworld at Telford in 2003. I was totally gobsmacked when I realised that it had beaten Jim Baumann!!!
