1/700 USS Texas BB-35 (Samek)

This was supposed to be an ‘out-of-the-box’ build having previously spent an eternity bashing the Tamiya CV6 into shape. Looking at various pictures I couldn’t help making a few changes and additions...then some more...and more...eventually I took a saw to the upper deck to create an internal space beneath it that can be seen around the gun ports; a lot of work for that’s not very visible, but I really like the effect. I don’t like blanked-off faces when the opening is large enough to seen in, so the fighting top and command tower (if that’s what they are called, I doubt it??) and were scratch built to be hollow. The sea took 2 weeks alone. Brass barrels from somewhere, photo-etch from Lionroar, Flyhawk, WEM, Tom’s and GMM, paint is colourcoats.
