This is the excellent GHQ 1/2400 kit of the USS West Virginia, BB-48, in her 1944 outfit and measure 32/7d camouflage. This was after her extensive reconstruction following her sinking at Pearl Harbor.
She emerged from the yards a completely different ship in appearance, with a silhouette that more closely resembled the South Dakota class battleships than her less modified sisters, the Maryland and Colorado.
Elsewhere among my ships on this site you can find the Superior 1/1200 kit of the West Virginia in 1941, showing what she looked like before the Japanese attack.
GHQ's 1/2400 kit is just amazing in its detail, for such a small scale. It was a real pleasure (and challenge) to build and paint.
