1/350 USS Iowa BB61 (Tamiya)

I purchased the old Tamiya 1/350 New Jersey kit and decided to alter it to the USS Iowa. I was fortunate enough to tour the USS Iowa on the 1st April 2014 in San Pedro harbour while visiting USA and have always wanted to model it.

The flag on A turret is hand painted with the stars from alternate decal sheets that I had surplus sheets of to "kitbash". I had to make some alterations to the kit to make it look more like Iowa. There is a deck aft of the fore funnel that needed the round edge cut off and replaced with a straight edge. Areas around the midships phalanx platforms needed some plastic card inserts to make areas appear more square and boxy resembling Iowa opposed to New Jersey.
