USS Missouri BB-63

1/350 USS Missouri BB-63 (Tamiya)

This is USS Missouri BB-63 as she appeared and as outfitted between her completion on July 23, 1944 and her Pacific outfitting in San Francisco on December 14, 1944, built from the Tamiya 1/350 Missouri plastic kit with enhancements from Gold Medal Models standard and fine detail WWII Iowa class kits. Many other additional GMM generic detail sets were also used.

In that San Francisco outfitting she was repainted in MS 22 and her Kingfishers were replaced with Seahawks. During her MS 32 period she only trained in the Atlantic and never saw any combat action. Nevertheless, I wanted to paint her in MS 32, so the kit supplied Seahawks were replaced with resin and brass Kingfishers from White Ensign Models. Many other scattered custom small details were added as well.

This was my first ever attempt at photoetch two or three years ago. So please excuse any small errors. But, all in all, it turned out pretty well. I would never again model anything without photoetch.
