1/1200 USS Missouri BB-63 (Revell)
After I showed a co-worker a commission build, she mentioned that I should make one for me. That way after many years up the road I can look back at what I used to be able to do. The ship was a 1/700 carrier. I went home and thought about it and decided that was a great idea, but I would see if I could go one better - 1/1200. I figured I would try a battleship in test of my new found scale.Being a plastic kit and Revell to boot, there isn't a lot of parts. Hull, Superstructure, Main turrets and Secondary 5 in. Construction was quick and painless. I decided since this was so small I'd just hand paint it. Plus it'd test my small painting ability. I chose the shake down cruise paint scheme because it would be a change from normal overall grey. Also as a test, I went out and found scale railings and radars. The radars (8 of em) were a challenge to build and installation went well. Right before I finished, I was noticing the ship was looking a bit plain. Then it hit me... rigging.... I'd try my hand at that. I pulled my fly fishing line out and put a couple lines on. I'd like to think I passed the test.
Thanks for looking and don't throw rotten tomatoes.
