USS Wisconsin BB-64

1/200 USS Wisconsin BB-64 (Sterling)

Here is a Sterling kit, the USS Wisconsin BB-64. It has working turrets that go back and forth, and raise and lower the 16 inchers. It has a set of 4 small Pitman motors. She also has a set of running lights

When I got this ship about 7 years ago it was a complete mess. With a lot of TLC and time it came out better then I thought it would. I wanted to do her as the WW 2 version with a lot of added detail that I had to scratch build. It is also set with the Lindbergh manual speed control and it uses a 12.8 gel cell battery.

The real BB-64 is now a floating museum back on the East coast. I have understood she could be put back in service if needed.

These pictures were taken at nice pond that a buddy of mine, Paul Rose, and I like to go to here in the Portland area. I am in the process of teaching Paul some of my tricks and helping him along the way. The 2 battleships that are siting side by side where at one time was both mine. They sat in my shop until he decided he wanted to do one. It still sat for almost 2 more years.

The one without much detail is his ship; the same scale and class as the Whiskey. I have shown him how to do some of things he was not sure of. His will be the USS Missouri BB-63 when done; but I felt it would be neat to see both ships side by side in the pond. It is fun to be able to help others and pass along what I have learned through the years, as well as having floating buddy.

Update:
Here is what she looked like after I spent about 3 days cleaning off a lot of heavy gray paint. I had one mess when I started it; I even cut part of stern off completely as to rebuilt it with dual rudders and 4 props. I almost had to rebuild everything, and added all of the extra detail .
