1/700 USS Montana BB-67 (Very Fire)

In 1/700 scale, battleships do not come any bigger than the USS Montana. I have been fascinated with this projected warship ever since I saw the photograph of a model in ‘US Warships of World War 2’ by Paul H. Silverstone way back in the 1960s. Now Very Fire have released a truly credible reproduction of this magnificent looking battleship albeit one that never made it off the drawing board, but that is some of the appeal isn’t it? Sure there are some details that Very Fire has added to their model that are open for debate, but so what? No one will ever know how this ship may have been completed. Nevertheless I have made some small adjustments, notably raising the height of the after funnel because in all the references I could find the two funnels are almost of equal height and not stepped as in the Very Fire kit. The only other things I have added were details to the turrets and funnels plus rigging and aerials. I used a number of references not least Siegfried Breyer Battleships and Battlecruisers but most usefully the section detailing the USS Montana on NavSource Online.
