I built this monster battleship after reading a few books and encountering several references to some Naval Design Studies called the Maximum Battleship. One around 1919 and a second one in 1936/37 were meant to determine what was the biggest, most heavily armed and armored surface combatant that could squeeze through the Panama Canal. Both studies zeroed in on an 80,000 ton, 1,000 foot behemoth that mounted fifteen 18” guns in five triple turrets. So I started with the Tamiya 1/350 Missouri and modified it … a lot … and then took the next two unused hull numbers and christened my Frankenstein as the USS Oklahoma, BB 73 … an Arizona-Class battleship. Lots of sheet styrene, Milliput and Gold Medal Models PED parts.
