1/2400 Battleships

1/2400 Battleships (Pfc-CinC/Panzerschiffe/Scratch)

  1. Invincible alongside the 1921, 18 inch gunned Battleship St Andrew (neither ever built). The Invincible is a fixed up Panzerschiffe model, whereas the St Andrew was scratchbuilt. The Invincible looked so interesting I just HAD to have its battleship equivalent.
  2. 1921 British Battlecruiser HMS Invincible
  3. WW1 USS Battlewagon Florida, a fixed-up Panzerschiffe model
  4. OPQ Battlecruiser Derfflinger of 1942 (never built) a fixed up Panzerschiffe model, and in the background, British Battlecruiser Repulse as she was painted when sunk 10 Dec 1941, another fixed up Panzerschiffe model.
  5. Two Pfc-CinC models - German Battlecruiser Scharnhorst camouflaged for the 1942 Channel Dash, and the Battleship Tirpitz as she was in 1944. You can just make out the green camouflage on Tirpitz' deck, which was augmented with freshly cut evergreens to camouflage her from RAF bombers which were hunting her at the time.

I currently have about 200 such ships in my collection. The smallest (besides US PT boats from GHQ) is a Russian 1905 torpedo boat, and an 1884 Russian Black sea ironclad, the Sinope. Both these latter are scratchbuilt and only about an inch long. Still, they look great. Unfortunately the photos I took of them are a bit blurred, so perhaps I will send better focussed photos of them at a future date.
