1/500 USS North Carolina BB-55 and USS Washington BB-56, Sister ships (Renwal)
Some months ago both Washington and North Carolina appeared in this gallery. The deck of Washington was not painted deck blue. North Carolina was a scratch build with wood and plastic superstructure. They return as sister ships as they looked in 1944. The scratch build was not good.
The Renwal kit is excellent. These should be reissued but they probably will not. I added the elevated 5" barrels to BB-55 also. I added Curtis Seahawks and catapults from Revell. Revell also supplied the 40mm's. Photo-etch details are on both. The slight differences of the two vessels are there. The control tower, placement of the 20mm galleries, and the rear mast. Both have a cedar hull with plastic torpedo armor.
