Subject: Tamiya DKM Bismarck in 1/350 Date: Sun, 28 Dec 2003 20:54:41 +1300 From: Peter Coveney To: Ship_Gallery@modelwarships.com I completed this model about a year ago. I made a 1/700 model of this ship when I was a kid and have always thought it was one of the finest ships made. I decided that I would enhance the model with photo etch and selected the Gold Metal set. Construction was quite straight forward but of course time consuming. In all it took about 4 months from beginning to end. I chose the paint scheme representing the ship as it was on it's way to Norway on "Operation Rheinubung" but prior to the battle where all the striping was removed. I was far from happy with the quad mount AA guns which the Tamiya part looked like a cube with 4 pins so I scratchbuilt replacements. The searchlights were improved by use of BareMetal foil and Krystal Kleer glue. For me this was a great project and I get a lot of satisfaction looking at the finished result.
