DKM Scharnhorst
by Gary Rowe

1/128 DKM Scharnhorst (Fleetscale)

He is about 95% complete now just the small fittings and a paint tidy up rigging all the stuff that brings a model together then a champagne launch at the end of March with more pictures to follow, hopefully my mate Pointy will bring his Graupner Prinz Eugen & we can run the Channel Dash together. The Fleetscale hull is very nice a bit bland but straight and level anyone who has built a Deans Marine kit will know what i mean! there deck on the other hand is a very different proposition first its not as wide as the hull its made for and second which will not show up until your a ways into the build A & B barbett are not in line which is a pain when you get to planking the deck and there drawings side elevation & top view are of different time frames with bits from each included. Anyway He was meant to have working turrets and a smoke system by JJC but the turret train & shoot interfered terrible with the rudder servo & the smoke unit was not well designed but JJC did make me a full refund with no questions, now is all He has is a Hunter systems smoke unit (oil burner) and an MP3 player with some stirring German wartime music like Lilly Marline.
