Scharnhorst

1/700 Scharnhorst (Tamiya)

I've enclosed photos of my latest build, the Scharnhorst as she appeared in early 1943. This is the old Tamiya kit spruced up with photo etch details from Tom's Models and LionRoar, including brass mast and yards. The aircraft hangar was ground out, and a # 71 drill used to chase the portholes. I made a template for the swastika's white backgrounds and sprayed them, then used swastikas from a larger scale aircraft model. I used a combination of Testors and Humbrol enamels, Caenis line and stretched sprue for the rigging, and fashioned the nav lights from plastic. This is my first submission to this website, but I have been building ship models for many years.
