1/400 HMS Hood 1938 (Airfix)
This is my build of Airfix's venerable 1.400 scale Hood depicted at the end of the Spanish Civil War where she was on patrol in the Bay of Biscay. This was a long build for me because of all the inaccuracies in the kit which I had planned to rectify as I progressed but in the end only achieved some of what I set out to do. However after working on and off on this kit I was determined to finish her as best I could and this is the result. Purchasing Bruce Taylors reference I set out to do justice to this kit. I was on a mission!!!! I used WEM's photo etched set to add more detail, ended up throwing the kits 4 inch guns in the bin as they are atrocious and purchasing a resin set which definitely add more detail. A lot of plasticard to add and change detail here and there was also used. Heaps of scratch built parts and this is my result. Anyway hope you enjoy the pictures.Like I always say, I thoroughly enjoyed Airfix's challenge of bringing this beautiful ship back to life.
