On completion of HMS Norfolk, I was given The Anatomy of a Ship HMS Dreadnought for my birthday. I decided to give it a try. I made the same approach as for HMS Norfolk & built the difficult parts first. I started with the big gun turrets which were built up of plasticard around a wooden interior. Then I moved on to the upperworks including the funnels, tripod mast & bridge assembly. I made the hull last of all. I decided to show the ship at moorings, tied to a rusty buoy. The sea was dark green crepe paper glued to a piece of plywood & sprayed in a patchy manner with Java Blue car paint from Halfords.
I don't know much about warships, so may have made some mistakes, but generally, I was happy with the pair of them.
On completion, HMS Dreadnought went at a Christie's Maritime Sale in London.
