Here are the pictures of my Lindberg Hood. It is 1/400 scale. I built this model at my Mississippi home in 2003.
There is much modification and scratchbuilding involved here to make a presentable scale model from a $20 kit, but it was a lot of fun and very much worth it.
I added the armor belt to the hull with styrene strip, and added much detail to the superstructure and turrets. The model represents the ship's appearance after her 1939 refit. Thus, it retains much of the secondary armament that adds so much to the ship's appearance.
Most of the PE details came from a WEM set made for the Heller 1/400 Hood. The 4" H/A guns on the boat deck were scratched using GMM gunhouses for the 1/350 Pennsylvania.
The model was painted in Modelmaster acrylics over a DuPont Krylon primer basecoat.
The model currently is on loan to my friend Patrick Hensley of Boonesville, Mississippi.
