HMS Repulse is one of my favorite ship. This ship is a long built as I first start building in 2006 and I've just finish it, ha! In those days I couldn't found a decent Repulse in 1:700 so I decided to make it from scratch. I used the Profile Morskie book as my main reference together with a few more books, web photos, and even the resin models of HP, B-Resina as my supplementary reference.
The main material of the model is styrene sheets and Tamiya epoxy putty. I also made the funnels and the gun director from modification of salvaged parts of a Tamiya Hood. Originally I re-shaped the Hood's turrets for Repulse but later I found the turret of Combrig's HMS Roberts look closer to the real thing. And so I used it as the base and modified it and recasted three new turrets (And 3 more for my up-coming Renown) by using Tamiya epoxy putty. The triple mounts and HA guns were made from styrene sheets and aftermaket brass barrels. The walrus floatplane was coming from the Tamiya Prince of Wales (the fold-wings one was from recasted parts and styrene sheet made wings). Pompoms were from new PE manufacturer named FlyingHawk - the quality is excellent!
The sad thing is that I learn about the true shape of the aft superstructure way too late! I read RNfanDan's excellent description and diagram in this board only a few days ago. Way to late to correct my ship...sigh...
