HMS Rodney
by John Bange

1/500 HMS Rodney (Scratchbuilt/Kitbash)

My third kitbash of the same Revell K.G.V....this time I used some 16" turrets from an old Iowa class vessel. the ship is shown as she appeared near the end of the war. A refit in an American yard must have been the reason for 40mm Borfor's being mounted in addition to the Vickers "scatter guns". There are a few Eastern Express Ramillies parts on her also. The bridge is made from the Revell kit. The main mast is from plastic rod. The 6" battery is made from the 1/570 twin 14" turrets from KGV. I cut them down and used the nice card stock which comes with Gold Metal pe sets to form the rear of the turrets. GMM rails, ladder, and hatches were added. I tried to match the colors shown in my reference book but I have seen other sources showing a more blue stripe down the side...don't know...think it is my best "kitbash to date and a lot of fun
