1/350 IJN Battleship Fuso (Fujimi)

This is the original, not the DX version, of the excellent Fujimi kit of the BB Fuso in 1944, I waited and did what research I could find on both Fuso and her sister ship IJN Yamashiro and as I was only going to purchase one of the sisters I decided on the Fuso kit as it came with the 14” metal barrels and the extra AA guns. Where the Yamashiro was an earlier year kit and has some 20+ boats to be added it worried me a little, but the final factor was the towering pagoda of the Fuso that I am led to believe was slightly higher than that of the BB Yamashiro.

Of the Five classes of IJN Battleships used during the second conflict I have now completed 1 each of four classes, only the 1/350 Hasegawa Mutsu and her multiple etch sets remain in the to do shelf. Tamiya Acrylics were used for all painting, the accessories are noted below but really are mandatory to enhance the model and turn it into a very impressive IJN warship especially mounting the 6 turrets.

Overall a very enjoyable, if not lengthy build, the kit and associated Etch went together very well, the instructions steps are also quite easy to follow and as mentioned builds to a very nice looking if not busy kit.

Accessories: Fujimi Fuso Photo-Etched Parts set and Fujimi Wood Deck. Veteran Models Type 89 12.7cm AA Guns and IJN Fire Control set. Fine Molds Type 96 25mm (single mount)
