1/700 IJN Battleship Nagato (Fujimi)
Nagato was arguably the best battleship built at the time of her launch in 1919, with the best combination of firepower, speed, and protection. It was flagship of the IJN Combined Fleet at the outbreak of WWII but like the rest of the IJN battleship fleet, it never got into any direct enemy surface action until the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. It's the only IJN battleship that survived WWII.This is a rendition of Nagato as it was at the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944. I started with a Fujimi 1/700 Nagato 1941 set and made an attempt to convert it the best I could, based on available info. Additional parts includes a Fujimi anti-aircraft guns set and Fujmi PE parts, some smaller PE/resin sets (e.g. air search radar, sandbags) and some custom panels (e.g. the anti-aircraft gun casemate on top of 2 of the main turrets).
This is my 3rd build and my first try on using PE parts and 0.002" fishing lines for riggings. Mistakes and imperfections abound but I will certainly try to do a better job next time.
