The subject is the IJN Ise as she was later in the war as she had her aircraft deck on the back. I won’t deny that I used other modeler’s Ise ships on this site for a reference on a lot of the details, but as imitation is the sincerest form of flattery I hope they won’t mind. I decided to do an easy diorama type setting. The water is just clear light paneling with the underside painted. It turned out alright for my first attempt at it. I made some tread plate out of fine mesh ribbon, glue and paper that I think turned out okay. It was used for the turntables and aircraft deck edge. I’ll be experimenting more with it the next model to make it even better. Overall the kit is okay, the deck has been retooled and main guns. Other than that the kit needed a lot of modification and styrene to get it to look good. Tom’s Photo etch was used as well.
