1/700 IJN Yamashiro (Aoshima)

Some of you might've seen my first Yamashiro , well this is not it. After I made a mess out of the pagoda structure trying to add some windows I lost all my hopes in finishing this long project, I took sometime off and then I started working on Yamato but this idea in my head of having the two sisters together just couldn't go away. I did my usual research I knew the quality of the Aoshima kit was exceptional but still I needed more, wanted to do something special with this new kit, I saw a couple of pics of a Yamashiro which was built using the Flyhawk PE set and I said to myself this is it, this is what I need to finish it. I bought the PE set as well as the Shinsengumi's wooden deck. I remember writing once these 1/700 wooden decks were just a waste of money not quite so I] was entirely wrong. this little wooden deck for $60 saved me unimaginable headaches with the paint work. I also replaced those crude plastic AA machine guns with some Pit-Road ones I had, the rigging was done with WEM's lycra thread I also added some painted figures from Eduards. The brass barrels are from Clipper and in case you are wondering the sand bags or rolled hammocks all over the bridge were scratchbuilt using styrene rods as for the ones on deck those are the ones that came with the kit I simply cut them in half I got a couple of spares for my Fuso now . BTW, don't pay any attention at the yellow scotch tape for I still working on the diorama.

As guide I followed Jeff Lin's and Lars Yamashiro I also want to thank Dan Kaplan for giving me advice on the degaussing cable.
