Subject: Pics of my Nichimo Yamato Date: Fri, 16 Aug 2002 07:55:18 -0700 From: "Bishop, Paul" To: "'ship_gallery@modelwarships.com'" Hi there, My name is Paul Bishop and I have been working on this Yamato on and off since I bought it in 1974 for $60.00 -so I guess that defines me as a Yamatoholic. I added r/c about 10 years ago. The power comes through a centerline shaft to a single prop as I felt the gearbox that came with the kit wouldn't last. The two front turrets also turn in unison. The pictures are taken in my backyard pool. This year I added the Gold Medal Model p/e pieces - that added a great deal to the detail. I also added a few Preiser "Z" scale figures - I have many more to add. Notice that the deck edge AA turrets aren't on yet. I must to cast several as they weren't included in the kit as needed for Yamato's last sortie. Reference material included the AOTS book by Januz Skulski as well as the two Gakken books #11 and 20. This is the models third deck - scribed plastic sheets glued to clear sheets that I got at Tap Plastics. The deck is held down by magnetic adhesive strips. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me. I have really enjoyed this forum and the great work depicted in the pictures.
