This is my model of Roma. I tried to depict her as she was at the time of her sinking. I did not put on all the ships boats but she must have carried some as she was going to internment and they would of had to have small boats for shore duty and the like, so I put some on the model. It is plank on frame then soaked in resin then coverd with fiberglass imbedded bondo, then faired with bondo glazing putty; makes for a very tough hull. Upper works are balsa covered styrene.
Large guns, boats etc are castings done by me. Catapult, searchlights, cranes and masts are brass; commercial parts are railings, gun barrels and radar from GPM. Construction took about 18 months.
Big thanks to Jim Baumann, Dave Wooley and many others who give lots of advice, and also this forum without which I do not think I could have built this model- thanks all!
