1/700 Russian Battlecruiser Izmail (Combrig)
This is one of the four projected battlecruisers of the Borodino class (the others were Kinburn and Navarin), laid down in 1913, launched in 1915 and never finished. Displacing 32,500, armed with twelve 14”/52 in four triple turrets, decently protected and with a maximum speed of 26.5 knots, these would have been powerful ships. However, their underwater protection was very weak, especially in the forward area close to turret I.
This is my fifth resin kit and was built almost straight out of the box, with the addition of railings and rigging. The only modification regarded the relocation of the rotating axis of the turrets, which in the kit was too close to the turret rear compared to what is shown in drawings I've found.
