1/700 USS Brooklyn CA-03 (Iron Shipwright)
Although Iron Shipwright is well known for their 1/350 kits, they’ve also produced some very nice 1/700 kits along the way. One of them was the USS Brooklyn which I’ve modeled here while another one, the USS Kersarge, is currently in my stash waiting to be done. Unfortunately these kits appear to be OOP although the ISW website does indicate that some are still in stock.
Building this kit has encouraged me to start other warships of the early American Navy. Luckily, Combrig and Modelkrak appear to be continuing to produce new such kits so the future looks encouraging for the Great White Fleet. Eventually they’ll probably get to the WWI era US battleships which I’m really waiting to see. These are great times for the 1/700 ship modeler!
