1/700 USS Portland CA-33 (Tamiya)
Conversion of Tamiya USS Indianapolis 1945 to USS Portland 1944 CA-33
- Sanded and re-scribed wooden planking on fore deck to correct single 20mms and shields
- Removed approx. 1” from upper hull to increase hanger deck – added gussets
- Rebuilt 01 bridge level (narrowed and shortened) for non-flagship
- Additional 20mm on bridge wing
- New tripod for forward fighting top to include additional level
- Widened main battery director base and gallery
- New foremast
- New base for fore funnel
- Hollowed funnel caps and new p/e grating
- Aft mast rec’d additional supports and detailing
- All splinter shields thinned
- New catapult towers to include walkways etc.
- Ship’s boats relocated to amidships from aft
- Addition twin 40mm port & starboard plus directors located aft of 5” battery
- Widened 20mm gallery each side of aft 5” director
- New splinter shields for 40mm mounts and directors on fantail unique to Portland
- Custom anti-skid deck pads
- Master barrels for 8” and 5” mounts
- p/e 40mm & 20mm
- 3 p/e detailed SOC-3 Seagull float planes incl folded wings
- Various additional deck fittings and p/e
- Painted in Measure 32/7d camouflage with differences unique to Portland
