Subject: USS Indianapolis 1:700 scale Date: Mon, 24 Nov 2003 15:12:39 +1300 From: "Randall" To: Hi Modelwarships, Here are some pictures of my Tamiya 1:700 Indianapolis, John Darlington and I have been experimenting with his digital camera. I have used the Toms Modelworks photo etch set and WEMs colourcoat paints. Not too much more work was required to make good representation of the Indy. I have modified both masts to make them more accurate and one the kits Seahawk float planes has had it's wings folded back and placed inside the starboard hanger door. I had alot of trouble bending the WEM photo etch twin orelikons into shape and ended up modifing the kit guns. The floater nets in the baskets are made from rolled up squares of pantyhose. Rigging is from streched sprue and the sea on the base is household pollyfilla painted with artists oils and a coat of varnish.
