1/500 USS Alaska CB-1/USS North Carolina BB-55 (Scratchbuilt)
The ships are USS North Carolina BB-55 and USS Alaska CB-1.
With the exception of the weapons, both are scratch. The upperworks on both are made of wood and small pieces of plastic with pe railing.
40mm's are from Revell and 5" 38's from Revell's Missouri and Los Angeles. I have finally run out of the 5"'s from the heavy cruisers and will have to make due with the ones from the battleship from now on. With the heavy cruisers going for around 50.00 on Ebay, I can get by. I trim the excess off of the mounts and cut the barrels off. I then use pins to replace the barrels pointing upward.
The scale is 1/500 or so and the usual liberties have been taken with accuracy lacking plans and using Squadron Signal picture for guidance.
