Prinz Eugen

1/350 Prinz Eugen (Trumpeter)

This is my model of the Trumpeter 1/350 German Heavy Cruiser Prinz Eugen. I used the PE Set from WEM, which is quite good, but in some parts also disappointing. Due to the good fit and detail of the kit, there was not much extra work to be done.

The biggest modification has been done to the hangar, as it was cut out from the kit parts to be able to accommodate both aircraft. The spare wings and floats are from an old Tamiya Arado.

The 2cm quad-AA are out of PE parts from Eduard, kit parts, Master Barrels, and aluminium for the shields.

The 4cm Bofors kit shields were thinned, as neither the kit nor the WEM PE set has replacements. The target device and the seats were made of wire. The Arado on the catapult had the body thinned out and received a scratchbuilt cockpit and engine as well as a scratchbuilt canopy.

The whole hangar area was also scratch-build, because the kit part looked nothing like the original.
