1/350 Prinz Eugen, 1940 (Trumpeter Kitbash)
I was very disappointed the Trumpy chose to do their Prinz Eugen kit as the 1945 version.So I did my usual habit of back-dating the kit to represent her as she appeared whilst on sea-trials in Oct 1940.Up to 20 mods are needed to do this ,the main ones beening replacing the forward AA directors with the much simpler "tubs" containing a range-finder.All 40mm where omitted ,and replaced with home-made twin37mm,and 20mm,from the spares locker.I used Eduards PE set for the build which I can heartily recommend,and Master metal 8" gun barrels .The model was painted with Vallejo paints.
I really enjoyed building this model ,as I consider the Prinz to be one of the best-looking warships ever made.
