1/400 DKM Admiral Scheer (Lee)
Hi all. I wanted to see if I could build a model over a weekend - starting Friday night and (hopefully) finishing by Sunday night. I did it with the Lee 1/400 scale DKM Admiral Scheer. The model is built entirely OOB save for the fact the kit did not include any molded anchor chains. I improvised by laying down chain which seemed to fit the scale of the kit. I painted her with Humbrol enamels. The kit is very basic - a friend of mine referring to it as a 'renovator's delight'. This lack of complexity lent itself well to my obsession with building a complete kit over a weekend. Fortunately, the C-in-C and the rest of the crew were away on this particular weekend, so I had HQ to myself. The model's basic and most likely nowhere near historically accurate, however, it was a fun build over a hot/air conditioned weekend in Melbourne. Comments and critiques (ouch) are always welcome via the Board.
