1/350 G. Averoff Greek Armored Cruiser (YS Master Pieces)

I made the mistake of not being specific about wanting a waterline model, hence had the fun of removing a solid resin lower hull....  This was done using a bench mounted high speed  belt sander  (which has water lined many a resin 1/350 ship...)

I discarded the railings supplied and used a combination of White Ensign Models and GMM rails which were a little finer than the originals. The remainder of the Photoetch was First class in concept and quality. I made my own new awning stanchions and supports . Figures are GMM . I chose  to make my own Hellenic Ensign from single layer paper masked with tape and  and colored in with Caran d' Ache  colored pencils and fixed with hairspray. The cage aerials nearly drove me to distraction.....BUT there they are .....they were not part of the kit and were made up using the Lycra Thread available from WEM

I cannot recommend this kit highly enough!   It built up beautifully out of the box with no problems of fit or sequence as the instruction are quite superb in booklet form, an excellent idea  keeping all the bits together and being a good read whilst at work....!!

I am looking forward to building the YS 1/350 OREGON....
