1/350 Imperial Chinese cruiser Chih Yuen (Bronco)

Bronco did a fantastic job in making this kit. The PE fret is quite comprehensive and should satisfy most modelers, on par with most aftermarket offerings for other kits. Construction went well. The plastic parts are well-detailed, especially the small guns. Some moldings could be crisper though, to effect easier placement.

The only real downside is having to paint yellow. Nobody likes to paint yellow. Easily the most frustrating part of it all.

Rigging is simplified, as I had not the time to truly finish it before I moved to my summer residence.

Keel blocks and supports are painted styrene.

Support legs for the fore and aft staves are bent electrical wire. Straps for the ship's boats are regular paper. Bronco is to be commended for not molding in unrealistic holes in the boat decks for insertion by davit plugs - instead, they included some photos on how the boats should be held in place with straps.
