This is my build of the USS Vicksburg CG-69. I used the USS Mobile Bay kit from Dragon., and the Ticonderoga Class Cruiser Detail Set 1-350 White Ensign Models for the PE.
I had a hard time with this build, it didn't seem like anything was fitting right. I used a lot of Bondo spot putty where the superstructures fit up with the hull, because things just weren't even close. Once the main structures were built the rest of the ship started fitting nicely. The WEM PE kit was outstanding. The directions were, on the most part, very through. I was happy with the way they covered the railings, taking the guesswork out of where to bend it.
I made a few mistakes along the way, but for the most part I feel the kit represents the Vicksburg. I used the supplied motor whale boat, and captains gig because they were on the Vicksburg when she first set sail, and I have a soft spot for this type of captains gig.
I don't know if I would recommend this kit to anyone without warning them about the rough fitting parts. I have a detailed description of my build on my web page. It covers all the problems, and pleasures I had with the build.
