Thanks for posting the tour of the cruiser from the Nationals. I like anything Aegis. Your cruiser post inspired me to post my Lake Erie, even though it was built in 2005. I’m fortunate enough to build models for Lockheed Martin and a good number of my models are of Aegis ships. I wish this model could have been more detailed especially at this size, (four and a half feet long) but I only had seven weeks to knock it out. I was in such a hurry I even used the wrong color for the name on the stern (oh well, my bad). All the markings are painted on. The hull is carved out of a solid block of mahogany that was built up bread and butter style. The superstructure is made up from blocks of basswood. Yeah it’s heavy but it had to be fork lift resistant. The rest is various types of wood, plastic, brass, and cast resin. I designed my own photo etch and sent it out to be etched.
