1/700 Vice-Admiral Drozd (Combrig)
My recent effort - Soviet Kresta I CG - Vice-Admiral Drozd. Overall, the Combrig kit is nice, clean and well cast but as most of their early kit has some shortcuts.
Drozd whas the only ship from the class of 4 modified to carry CIWS AK-230, and had the bridge enlarged to carry the radars for it. This element has to be scratch built since kit has it "as built." The structure behind the bridge is incorrect for Drozd, and was rebuilt.
It would be nice if Combrig either refit their older kits with new casts of Peel group radar from Kashin together with SA-N-1 launchers or will release it as and upgrade kit. It is not that important since it easy to do yourself. Unfortunately, there is no PE set for this ship but there is a man who can help - Loren Perry! His "Soviet Cruiser" set has unlimited possibility of being PE source for any Soviet Cold War era ship by simple modification of elements of the set.
Decals are from Combrig Kashin and Skywave Zakharov.
Since most of Udaloy class decal are either Admirals or Marshals it was easy task to combine part of their last name to build 'Vice-Admiral Drozd" in Cyrillic.
