This kit was fun to build but was sitting around for a long time gathering dust because it was too cold in my model making room. I have always had a distaste for model kits smaller then 1/600 scale and look foreward to when Trumpter produces a 1/350 model of the Kirov class B.C.
The kit itself was fun to put together and the P.E. detail set from WEM went on perfectly. The Russian fleet is not what it used to be and has gone from an ocean going navy to a coastal defense force. I decided to put a bit of weathering on the B.C. and found that brown read matt I used for the decks is perfect to smudge on as heavy rusting. I would say that is the best thing I learned from this kit. I hear that Imperial Hobby Productions is producing a waterline kit of the HMS Hermes 1982 Falklands Version Product noumber 70028. Please someone Produce this kit in at least 1/400 scale with an option to make the Indian Naval Service INS Viraat. Can’t stand making a ship cut off at the waterline. Trumpeter should make the INS Viraat because the Chinese Navy had its best naval exercises in years with the INS in the Yellow Sea and Bay of Bengal.
This ship is made for my good friend Fiona Bruin.
