1/500 USS St. Louis CL-49 (Scratchbuilt)
This is my attempt at St. Louis as she appeared in 1942/43 with cruiser division 9. I guessed at the color ID markings on the turret tops knowing that red(Honolulu) and green(Helena) were already used. The hull is cedar with a wood and plastic upperworks. Masts are from plastic rod and kit parts.
I used the mark 32, 5"/38 twins from Matt Stein. I am not sure if these are right...some photos I have seen look like an earlier twin mount. 40mm's are from Revell(no 1.1's in this scale) as is the fire control. PE radar from GMM has been added to the mk33's and the masts. The carly floats are chopped out of various kits.
Many discrepancy's but a lot of fun to try from photos.
