Dupleix

1/350 Dupleix 1903 (U-Boat Laboratorium)

The Dupleix was one of three light cruisers of Desaix class. Keel was laid at Rochfort laid in 1898 entered service in 1903. They were designed as flagships for the foreign stations of the many French colonies. The beginning of World War I found the Dupleix in Hong Kong. Operating from there she intercepted two German freighter carrying supplies and coal for Graf Spee's East Asia Squadron.

She then partook - unsuccessfully –in the hunt for the raider "SMS Emden".

She escorted British troopship between India and the Suez Canal and in the spring of 1915 she moved into the Mediterranean. There she took part in the bombardment of Turkish positions at Bodrum.

The remainder of the war was spent in the Suez Canal.

Decommissioned in 1919; scrapped in 1922
