I started building this model with the Gold Medal Models 1/600 Naval Ship set. About 3/4 way through the build, White Ensign announced a set specifically for the kit. So, I stopped what I was doing and ordered the WEM set. Since I had already railed the decks, I left the GMM railings in place, but inserted the WEM set where I could: catapult, cranes, radars, etc. This is one of my earlier efforts with photo-etch - I'd like to think that I can do better now.
The model was painting with a mix of Xtracolour, Humbrol and White Ensign paints - WEM's paints began coming out just as I was finishing the model. The model depicts Belfast during the Battle of North Cape in December 1943, when she helped destroy the Scharnhorst.
