1/700 IJN Isuzu (Fujimi)
This is my take on the 5,500 ton displacement IJN Cruiser Isuzu, converted to an AA role, war worn and ragged in 1944, at anchor, taking on stores. The starting point was the very old very basic 1970s Fujimi mold, but not much more than the hull, main superstructure block and funnels survive from it. The rest is scratchbuilt with spare bits and bobs, the Fujimi PE for the modern tooling and some GMM, with Niko main armament, L'Arsenal boats and the Admiral's launch is a Hasegawa Hyuga spare. Figures are Eduard. The incurable inaccuracies of the kit some gave me licence with rigging and deck furnishing, such that IJN experts may carp, but this was very much a novice's practice piece, and my first attempt at a diorama.
