1/700 IJN Oyodo (Fujimi)
This is the old< Fujimi kit of Oyodo. I replaced the main battery turrets with turrets from the new Tamiya Kumano, while the AA guns, searchlights, ships boats, assorted gun directors and Type 22 radar all came from Skywave. Photo-etch is from two Toms ModelWorks Japanese Light Cruiser set. Why two? Because the set only provides you one crane for Oyodo - you need two. The searchlight tower on the hangar is from a Tom's Heavy Cruiser set, cut down to the correct height.
I attempted to make a funnel grate from brass wire - it didn't come out as well as I had hoped. I also added braces to the main and foremasts made from brass wire. Again, not the effect I was hoping for! Rigging is Dai Riki .002 Monofilament.
Paints are from White Ensign: Yokosuka Gray and Linoleum. Model was weathered with oils. "Water" is acrylic gel medium.
