1/700 IJN Yubari, 1923 (Tamiya)
This is the second half of my Yubari project, showing her as launched in 1923 with the short funnel, taller masts and rigging, reduced AA armament, etc. The main superstructure and bridge required much rebuilding as the kit is quite inaccurate for either the early or late version. Detailing was done using GMM Gold Plus extrafine IJN railings and GMM IJN cruiser/destroyer detail sets. Masts were scatchbuilt with brass rod and wire, rigged with stretched sprue. She was painted using WEM colorcoats and Humbrol enamels weathered with pastel chalks and watercolour washes.
Now back to my main project - early IJN destroyers!!
