The model assembles easily but could use some additional detail out of the box. Same for the Gold Medal Models set, which is one of their older sets and while nice, could do with an update. The VectorCut deck is real wood and looks very nice, though modelers on a budget will want to weigh its US$17 price against how little of it is visible on the finished ship.
The case was made by Grandpa's Cabinets and is quite nice.
Rigging is a combination of nylon paint brush bristles for the shorter runs and fine monofilament fishing line for the longer stretches. I really like using the paint bristles as rigging as they are naturally straight and so do not put the plastic masts under tension, as you need to do with the monofilament to get it taunt.
