1/547 USS Midway CV-41 (Scratchbuilt)
My mostly scratch built model of the USS Midway CV-41 as she would have looked in 1979, with Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard. I started with the old Revell kit that I purchased from the Midway Museum in San Diego, and only used the basic hull, both anchors and the two sides of the island. I used Evergreen styrene for the rest with railings and crewman in photo etch from Tom's Model Works. The aircraft and flight deck equipment are 3D printed from Shapeways. The decals are from Starfighter. I added a complete hanger deck and its fully detailed from pictures I took on a visit to her in 2016. I used a set of blueprints scaled up to 1/547 to march the kit scale.
