1/350 USS Enterprise CVN-65 (Tamiya)
Model is the Tamiya 1/350 USS Enterprise kit. As you know, this kit portrays the Enterprise after she emerged from her1979 - 82 COH at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. I wanted to build the Enterprise as she is in 2004. I selected Enterprise's latest deployment (Oct. 2003 - Feb. 2004) configuration as the base for my model. Enterprise carried CVW-1 tail code AB during this deployment. Decals aren't available for this wing, so I did the next best thing and tried to hand draw everything. Am not very happy with the results but, better than nothing.
During reconstruction of this kit, I used P.E. railings from Tauro from Italy, the Gold Metal Models Enterprise P.E. Set and their USN Nuclear Carrier Decal set. Evergreen plastic model supplies were used in the creation of all additional parts needed to make this model. The Navy Newsstand site at www.news.navy.mil/ was used to obtain photo's of the Enterprise in her present configuration.
A total of 252 hours was spent in building this model.
