This kit was given to me by my father in the year 2000. However it was not until early 2005 when I started to build it. Until mid 2005, this aircraft carrier was about 80% complete and it was only recently in August 2006 when I completed it. Note that the first pic of the Enterprise shows it alongside the 1/350 scale Soviet Nuclear submarine, Typhoon( by Dragon Shanghai ) which I built 10 years ago. From what I observed, this USS Enterprise kit by Trumpeter is a clone of the original kit by Tamiya and a cheaper version too.In terms of quality, the parts molded for the ship seems quite acceptable generally except that some tweaking and modifications will have to be done at times. As the quality of aircrafts provided by Trumpeter was not very desirable, I discarded all of them and purchased the 1/350 aircrafts by Trumpeter of the A-6E, F-14, F-18, A-7, E-2C and S-3. I must say that the 1/350 aircraft by Trumpeter surpasses that by Tamiya in terms of detail and quality and they are really worth it for modelers who are enthusiasts of details in small scale aircrafts. As the Su-27 is my favourite fighter, I have also incorporated it into the USS Enterprise, making a joint-Naval exercise between Russia and USA type of 'diorama', which can be seen in the pictures shown.
