1/720 USS Enterprise CVN-65 (Revell Germany)

These are some photos of my build of Revell's 1/720 USS Enterprise. I wanted to represent the ship in its 2006 configuration. This seemed very demanding since the only 1/720 kit is the Revell one representing Enterprise as it was before the 1979 refit.I used parts from the Arii 1/800 Enterprise kit and the island which is correct in dimensions for 1/720. This saved me from a lot of scratchbuilding. Other parts used were Sea Sparrow launchers, Phalanx, SRBOC and OE-82 antennas from the Skywave weapon sets and 2 RAM launchers from JAG. The radomes which are always a huge problem for modern carriers were made from scratch and then I went to a friend of mine who is a metal caster and he made many copies of everything I asked him to. This way I have every type of radome not only for this carrier but also for all the other carriers in my fleet and their escorts as well. PE came from the GMM 1/700 carrier set and decals are an assortment of GMM, Skywave and other decals from spares. Especially the new 1/700 supercarrier decal set from GMM was really helpful. Now I'm wishing for a decal set for CVW-1 2006 to be released.
